From soil to sip

What if your daily coffee could support a more resilient food system?

Where it began

Where Mieli began

This journey started with indigenious smallholder farmers that are adapting to climate change. Even as land degrades, one crop continues to thrive: millets. Resilient, adaptable, and deeply rooted in traditional agriculture. But resilience alone is not enough. Without demand, even the most sustainable crops remain overlooked.

The insight

The missing link is demand

Modern food systems reward a narrow set of crops. What we consume shapes what gets grown.

Mieli was created to bridge this gap: connecting climate-resilient crops with modern consumption habits, starting with something simple and familiar: milk in your coffee.

A small shift with a larger ripple

Why this matters

When demand changes, systems follow. By building products from underutilized, resilient grains, we aim to support crop diversity, encourage regenerative practices, and bring visibility to overlooked agricultural systems.

For people

For farmers
For consumers
  • Recognition of resilient crops
  • Potential for diversified income
  • Reduced dependence on fragile systems
  • A more thoughtful plant-based option
  • A closer connection to what they consume
  • Everyday choices aligned with long-term impact
For the planet

Better for the planet

Millets are naturally suited to challenging climates. They require less water, support soil health, and grow in diverse conditions. Choosing them is not just about substitution. It is about direction.

Mieli is about aligning market demand with resilient agriculture.
